New Headteacher appointed for Sandy Lane Primary School

We are delighted that David Cann has been appointed as the new Headteacher for Sandy Lane Primary School from 1 September 2024. 

Currently Deputy Head at Dukhan English School in Qatar, David brings a strong knowledge of teaching and learning, the curriculum and developmental leadership.

Sam Hunter, Assistant Director of Primary Education and part of the panel of school governors and Trust leaders that appointed David, says: “I am thrilled that we have appointed David to lead Sandy Lane Primary School and to join our successful team of GLT primary headteachers from September. He is an aspirational leader with a passion and energy that will enable him to continue to build on the school's successes and drive further improvements.”

David shared the following with us: “ I am absolutely delighted to be joining the Sandy Lane team and am already looking at how we can build on its current strengths. Having started my classroom life in Bracknell, I am excited to be returning to where it all 'began' and was overwhelmed at the warmth and energy I felt during my recent visit. I look forward to more visits prior to the official start so that we can hit the ground running.”
