Jonathan Heap appointed as Headteacher for John Madejski Academy

Jonathan Heap will take up his post at John Madejski Academy (JMA) in Reading on 1st January 2025.

Mike Milner, the current Headteacher, will be leaving JMA at the end of this term. He has been instrumental in supporting the transition of JMA into the Greenshaw Learning Trust, which is expected to be completed on 1st January 2025. We extend our heartfelt thanks to Dr. Milner for his dedication and leadership, and we wish him every success in his future endeavours.

We are pleased to announce that Jonathan Heap, Assistant Director of Secondary Education, will assume the role of Interim Headteacher from 1st January 2025. Jonathan brings over 20 years of exceptional school leadership experience, having led three secondary schools in similar contexts to achieve outstanding outcomes and inspection results. We are confident that under Jonathan's leadership, JMA will continue its journey of rapid and sustained improvement.

Jonathan says: “JMA is a very special school that lies at the heart of its community, and we want to make it a school for everyone to be proud of. We recognise the challenges ahead, and have already made good progress this term in the support we have provided. We want parents to feel they are always welcome at the school and to meet with us. We are all fully committed to supporting every single child to being happy, safe, and successful as they follow their individual path to the very best universities and apprenticeships.”

The recruitment process for a permanent Headteacher will commence in the Spring Term.
