Kate Rimell

Having worked in education for much of my career, I was a member of staff at Lakers School in the Forest of Dean when it joined the GLT family and became Five Acres High School. I worked closely with the Director of Education throughout this time, and when an opportunity arose in 2019 to continue working with him as part of the Shared Service, I went for it! 

Initially working as an Executive Assistant to the Directors, with the growth of the Trust, I took the opportunity to apply for the role of Head of Strategy.  This role saw me developing a new cross-phase and cross-function executive support team to work with the growing number of directors, as well as leading the communications team. I also worked alongside the Head of Governance to develop and refine the work of the clerking and governance service, which really increased my interest and understanding of this area. In February 2024, I was successfully appointed to the Growth and Development Team, as Associate Director, and I now oversee communications and governance, lead the work of the executive assistants and get involved in all phases of a school or multi-academy trust joining GLT, and the wider development of the Shared Service. 

I would never have anticipated this journey when I first started working with GLT all those years ago. I work with exceptional people, across all parts of the organisation, and I have taken full advantage of that. Absorbing their experience and wisdom has really helped me to develop myself and meant I have been able to pursue these development opportunities. They say if you love your job, you'll never work a day in your life, and I feel lucky enough to have achieved that here.
