Information and frequently asked questions:

Our recruitment process

Step 1: Online application

If you have seen a post on our website or on an online job board, you will need to complete an online application form. Your application will be stored on our applicant-tracking system which we use to manage our vacancies and keep in touch with all our candidates.

Step 2: Shortlisting

We review all the applications we receive against the job specification criteria. If your application hasn’t been successful, we will let you know. We will keep your details on file for six months for any future vacancies, unless you ask us not to.

Step 3: Interview

Depending on the role you have applied for, we might arrange a short telephone interview. Alternatively, we might invite you for a face-to-face interview or online video meeting. We’ll let you know all the arrangements beforehand.

Before you attend the interview, and in line with Keeping Children Safe in Education guidance, your referees will be contacted with a request for references, unless you request us not to. Depending on the type of role, we may hold a second interview stage with additional department/team members.

Step 4: Skills assessments

Our policy is to include a skills-based assessment as part of the selection process. Depending on the role, this might involve technical tests, presentations or work-based exercises. We’ll let you know what’s needed and any preparation you will need to do.

Application deadlines

Application deadlines vary by academy and position. Please make sure you complete your application ahead of the specified closing date, so we can ensure your application is considered.

Please note: We may choose to interview as and when suitable applications are received, and may appoint a candidate and close the job before the advertised deadline without notice. In this situation, you will still be able to access and amend your application, but you will not be able to submit it. With this in mind, you should ensure that you submit your application as soon as possible after seeing the advertisement.

Diversity, equality and inclusion

We are ambitious about diversity, equality and inclusion. We very much look forward to receiving applications from candidates whose personal qualities and values reflect those in the person specification and whose experiences also place them in a strong position to deliver the challenges set out in the job description. We encourage applications from candidates regardless of age, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, pregnancy, marital status, religion, belief, or race. If you require any reasonable adjustments for any stage of the recruitment process, please let us know.

What if I have a problem applying?

If you have a question on any of our advertised roles, or need any support with the application process, then please contact our recruitment team at recruitment@greenshawlearningtrust.co.uk.

Do you use agencies?

Instead of relying on external recruitment agencies, our focus is on managing our hiring processes internally, leveraging the expertise of our dedicated in-house team. This approach has proven to be highly effective for us. However, there may still be exceptional cases where we seek external collaboration, and if we require the services of a recruitment agency, we will initiate contact.

In the meantime, we kindly request that agencies refrain from contacting our hiring managers directly.

How is my applicant data stored?

Offer stage

If successful, you will receive a conditional verbal offer directly from the headteacher, department head/line manager or a member of the recruitment team. Depending on the type of role, you can expect to receive a conditional verbal offer either on the day of your interview, or by telephone within 48 hours.

Once you have accepted, you will receive an offer letter to sign and return, and you will be contacted to start our onboarding process of pre-employment checks. You can expect to receive your contract once all these checks are complete.
